The Salvation Army
Christmas tree Appeal

During the month of December, QMC will have Christmas trees at all three surgeries for you to donate food items for the Salvation Army
Kids Tri 2011
QMC is again one of the gold sponsors and is providing medical support at the Kids Triathlon held at Jacks Point Sunday 19th of December. This is a great day for everyone!
Berry good jelly for the Kids

This is a fruit-packed summer treat which is both easy and fun for the kids to help make.
Instructions: Make the jelly according to the packet instructions, then leave to cool. Divide into individual containers or pottles and refrigerate until just beginning to set. Then add the strawberries, raspberries and blueberries
Return the jellies to the fridge to finish setting. If you put the fruit in before the jelly has begun to firm, it will sink to the bottom – not a catastrophe but not as pretty as when the fruit is suspended in the jelly.

Queenstown Medical Centre.
2011 has been a memorable and busy year for Queenstown Medical Centre. There have been a number of challenges and a lot of uncertainty regarding the future of the local healthcare structure. Whatever the ultimate structure of healthcare in the Wakatipu, QMC will be at the forefront striving to achieve excellence, innovation and high quality standards of care. QMC has always been at the forefront of innovation in Primary Health Care in New Zealand. On November 1st, QMC joined the Southern Cross Primary Care network - just the second practice in New Zealand to do so. I am confident that membership of the network will bring significant benefits to our staff, our business, but most importantly to our patients. QMC will, of course, continue to focus on providing high quality, better, sooner and more convenient medical care to all our patients.
On behalf of the Queenstown Medical Centre Partnership, I wish you all well for the Festive Season and a Healthy 2012.
Travel Column
By Nurse Kirsty Mills
With everything on-line these days the world certainly is only a button away.
Many of our travel destinations on our back door step are tropical and affordable with many wonderful foods and experiences so different to our usual lives.
Many of these destinations in developing countries have very different standards than you may not be aware of, which is fine if you are prepared but if you’re not it can ruin a dream holiday.
So take out medical insurance, come and see us at the Travel Clinic where we can identify any risks (eg: food, mosquito borne) and how you can minimise them. This is part of making that dream holiday come true.
If you’re not sure whether you need to come in, leave a message on our direct travel line 441-0540 and one of our Travel nurses will get back to you. Safe travels
