Immigration Medicals
QMC provides Immigration and Work Visa medicals and Tuberculosis X-ray requests.
Before booking your medical appointment please ensure that you have the relevant documentation required. You need to bring your completed immigration form, passport and two passport photos to the appointment.
Please be precise with your requirements when you are talking with the receptionist.
A 30 minute appointment is booked with the nurse, followed by a 15 minute appointment with the Doctor. Blood tests and an x-ray will also be required and can be arranged on the day of your appointment. Additional charges apply for these tests.
Australian immigration medicals can only be booked with Doctor Simon Davies.
You can now “fast track” the submission of your application to the New Zealand Government for a New Zealand immigration medical certificate using the NZimed express service. You will need to visit their site to register. Click the banner to visit their site.

Company Medicals, Insurance Medicals and Drivers licence Medicals
QMC provides all types of medical assessments. Whether they be company pre-employment medicals, insurance medicals or drivers licence endorsements. Contact Wendy Denhertog on 03 441 0558 for bookings. When booking please provide specific information about your medical requirements, so we can allocate the correct amount of time for you to see a Doctor and/or a Nurse.
Company medicals often have specific paper work and documentation that your employers or company will need to provide to you. Please enquire with them prior to booking your medical assessment. If your company requires occupational health services, pre-employment medicals or any other type of medical assessment, please call us we would be happy to discuss how we could assist your requirements.

Diabetes And Asthma Education - Diabetes Awards Winners 2006

LTD is extremely proud to announce that the 2006 Winner of the annual
Lilly partnership in Diabetes Award for Diabetes specialist Nurses was
our very own Jenny Britland. Congratulations Jenny!!
This service is provided by Jenny Britland, a Registered nurse who has specialised in Asthma and Diabetes. Jenny sees patients here at QMC as well as at FMC and also visits patients in their homes and Lakes District Hospital as required. She also liaises with local schools in the areas of education for students and teachers about Asthma and Diabetes.
Jenny’s goal is help patients learn more about their condition to keep them well and give people the confidence and knowledge to help with the self-management of their condition. Jenny works closely with Helen Reid, dietician in assisting patients
with Diabetes to learn more about their daily food choices when
managing their diabetes.

Dietician Service
Helen Reid is a registered Dietician with a Postgraduate Certificate in Diabetes. Her main area of work is providing specialist nutritional advice to Diabetics, and those at risk of Diabetes. This is a free service at QMC. She works closely with Jenny Britland, the Diabetes Nurse Educator. Helen is also available to provide advice on different nutritional programs for different circumstances including:
- Gastrointestinal Disorders
- Weight Management
- Coronary Heart Disease
- Cancer
- Infant and Child Nutrition
- Nutritional Deficiencies
- Healthy Eating
- Cholesterol Lowering
- Pregnancy
- Allergies
- Sports Nutrition
- Meal Planning for busy lifestyles.
Helen is at QMC every Wednesday between 9.30am and 2pm.

Smoking Cessation
To help you “Quit”, we have several nurses at QMC who are all trained to help you quit smoking and are approved to offer NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) exchange cards.

Visiting Specialists
Queenstown Medical Centre is fortunate to have the facility to accommodate visiting specialists. Having these specialists visiting our surgeries allows our local patients to seen locally rather than having to travel large distances. Ranging from Plastic Surgeons to Cardiologists visits are normally on a 6 - 8 week cycle, occasionally less frequently depending on how busy they are!
In most cases access to specialist services is through your GP by referral and appointments will be arranged between you and the specialist.

The aim of our sexual health and family planning clinic is to provide a confidential and non-judgmental sexual health and family planning advice service to all.
We provide diagnosis and treatment in a comprehensive and understandable manner to our patients, while working within the parameters of our governing bodies and codes.
WSHC is offers sexual health services by a select group of Doctors and Nurses all of whom are very experienced in sexual health both for Women and Men.

Well-person Health Screening Assessment
We offer Well-Person Health screening assessments tailored to patients individual needs. You can discuss your personal concerns, such things as Family History with your Doctor during the consultation.
Initially you are booked with your nurse for 1/2 an hour to complete a questionnaire and arrange all tests.
In approximately 1 week another 1/2 hour appointment with your Doctor is arranged. You will be provided with a thorough consultation based on the results of your tests, as well as discussing such things as family history, nutrition, and general well being.
How healthy is your heart? Cardiovascular Risk Assessments (CVRA)
As part of a national and PHO initiative to try to prevent heart disease, Queenstown Medical Centre offers CVRA checks to our enrolled patients. These risk assessments are undertaken by trained nurses. There is a higher than normal incidence of heart disease in the south especially if you are of Maori or Pacific Island descent. Current national guidelines recommend the following people undertake an assessment;
- 35-74 year old Maori or Pacific male
- 45-74 year old Maori or Pacific female
- 45-74 year old NZ European male
- 55-74 year old NZ European female
For our enrolled patients from the above groups, the subsidised cost of the 30 minute assessment is $17. If you do not fall into the above groups you are welcome to have the assessment at a cost of $34. As part of the risk assessment you will need to have some blood tests prior, which we will discuss with you when you ring to make your appointment.
