Urgent Care Team Leader
Kirsty came to Queenstown 25yrs ago on a ski holiday. Attracted by the size of the mountains and the small town friendliness, she felt at home straight away.
With a back ground of orthopaedic nursing and casting she was a perfect fit for her first role with QMC as a nurse on the mountain.
Prior to arriving in Queenstown she had spent nearly ten years travelling through Asia, Europe and Africa. She carried that love into further study and has added a diploma in travel medicine to her portfolio, working with other other well-travelled colleagues in the travel clinic. She also completed a post graduate diploma in Primary Care which has given her valuable knowledge and confidence in working as a nurse in our community.
In addition to the Travel Clinic she continues to specialise in orthopaedics and works in our fracture clinic as well as the Urgent Care Clinic.
Marriage and two kids later, her love of this beautiful town means she is still here enjoying the company of like-minded colleagues, some that she has worked with since she started. She says it feels like an extended family. Outside of work she loves art and dabbling in anything creative, including DIY and playing with her inherited power tools. She really enjoys getting out into the garden and walking with the family and their dog in the hills in this beautiful part of the world she now calls home.
