Please refer to our Fees page for the current repeat prescription charge.

Our Repeat Prescription Policy is based on best and safe practice and this requires a patient to see their doctor every six months for long term medications.  This is for the benefit of the patient to ensure they receive the most appropriate treatment with the best outcome.

The Health & Disability Commissioner has determined that legally prescription medication can only be provided on consultation with a prescribing clinician. We are required to ensure that repeat prescriptions are only issued to patients where reasonable steps have been taken to review medication, obtain an updated history and perform a physical examination including specific tests to identify any new risk factors or contradictions. A consultation provides the opportunity to do this and inform the patient of any relevant information. A decision not to have a consultation is at the sole discretion of QMC and the doctor concerned.
