Earlier Opening Hours for Urgent Care

High demand for our walk‑in After Hours & Urgent Care clinic at 9 Isle Street has shown us that our community needs access to care earlier in the day. Now on, our Urgent Care service is now open 8am–7pm on weekdays.

Weekend and public holiday hours remain the same at 10am–5pm.

⏰ New Weekday Hours (Monday–Friday)

• Open: 8am
• Close: 7pm
• After hours fees are applied from 6 - 7pm
• Weekends & public holidays: 10am–5pm (no change)

These hours apply to walk‑in Urgent Care only. All other QMC services continue as normal.

💬 Why we’ve made this change

Adjusting our hours allows us to reallocate staffing in a way that directly improves patient experience.

• Meeting demand earlier in the day, many patients seek care first thing in the morning, especially families, workers, and visitors preparing for the day ahead.
• Shorter waiting times, the new roster pattern allows more clinicians to work together across the busiest parts of the day.
• Better flow for walk‑ins, with more clinical support available earlier, we can assess, treat, and discharge patients more efficiently.

🧭 What this means for you

If you or your whānau need same‑day medical care that can’t wait for a routine GP appointment, you can now walk in from 8am on weekdays. No appointment needed.

For all routine care and to maintain an ongoing relationship with your regular clinician, please continue to book appointments. Urgent Care is for acute, non‑life‑threatening injuries and illnesses that cannot wait for a scheduled appointment.

Our aim is to make it easier for people in our community to get the care they need, at the time they need it. These updated hours help us better match the rhythm of Queenstown’s mornings and support locals, workers, and visitors with smoother access to urgent care.
