Your guide to how enrolling with QMC helps you save every visit.
Choosing a medical centre isn’t just about where you go when you’re unwell or injured - it’s about joining a team that supports your long‑term health. When you enrol with Queenstown Medical Centre, you gain access to government‑subsidised care, QMC‑funded discounts, and a wide range of services designed to make healthcare easier, more accessible, and local.
If you’ve ever wondered what the difference is between a subsidy and a discount, or what benefits enrolled patients actually receive, this guide breaks it all down clearly.
Subsidised vs Discounted - What’s the Difference?
Subsidised (Government‑Funded)
These are services where the government contributes to the cost of your care. If you’re enrolled, you automatically receive these subsidies.
Discounted (QMC‑Funded)
These are extra price reductions QMC chooses to offer enrolled patients.
Both matter - and together, they make create benefits for you and your whānau when you enrol.
Government‑Subsidised Services for Enrolled Patients
These benefits apply automatically once you’re enrolled with QMC:
1. Subsidised GP & Nurse Practitioner Consultations
Enrolled patients pay significantly less for standard GP and NP appointments thanks to government funding.
2. Free Care for Children Under 14
- Free GP, NP and Nurse consults for Medical and ACC visits
- Free Urgent Care and After Hours
This is government‑funded and available to enrolled tamariki.
3. Community Services Card (CSC) Subsidies
If you hold a CSC, your consult fees are reduced even further.
4. Subsidised Nurse Consultations
Many standard nurse appointments are subsidised for enrolled patients.
QMC Discounts for Enrolled Patients
These are not government subsidies, they’re QMC’s discounts to support our community.
1. Discounted After Hours & Urgent Care Fees
Enrolled patients pay lower fees for After Hours and Urgent Care compared to casual patients.
