Pre-employment checks and certifications
Some workplaces or occupational licensing require employee's health to be checked to ensure tasks can be carried out safely, meeting compliance and regulatory standards. These assessments may be needed before starting a role, during recruitment, or to permit an individual or organisation to operate lawfully. This ranges from pre-employment checks to CAA Pilot Medicals and Maritime Medicals.

Pre-employment checks and certifications
Workplace health requirements vary between roles and industries. Some roles and vocations need full medical assessments, while others only require specific tests, vaccinations, or drug screening. Whether you’re an employer, contractor, or job applicant, we can help you meet the health requirements needed for safe and suitable work.

Pre employment medical tests
Some pre‑employment medicals need additional testing depending on the role. We can provide spirometry, audiometry, ECG, IDT, ESR, vision assessments, alcohol breathalyser, urine screening, grip strength, BMI, BP, pulse, range of movement, lab tests, and vaccinations.

Vaccination Requirements
Some occupations and vocations require up‑to‑date vaccinations. We can provide a range of vaccinations including Boostrix, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Polio, and MMR as needed for workplace requirements.

Employment and Industry support
Different jobs and industries ask for different types of medicals, and we offer assessments to support them all. This includes occupational certifications such as pilot and maritime medicals, as well as industry medicals across construction, mining, aviation, and tourism. We also provide sports‑related medicals, including assessments for programmes like Outward Bound and Camp America. Using employer‑supplied paperwork and medical protocols as templates, we customise each medical with the equipment available in our clinic to meet your workplace requirements.

How to Book
To book in for occupational health and certifications services, contact our patient admin team at patient.admin@qmc.co.nz or call them directly on 034410505.
If you simply need a driver's medical, this requires standardised paperwork that we have available at all locations. This medical can be completed with most clinicians, so you are welcome to call our main number to book on 03 441 0500.
What to Bring
Please ensure you have the relevant paperwork that you require our clinical team to complete. If your specific paperwork requires you to take a drug test, you will need a full bladder at the time of your first appointment with the nurse or healthcare assistant.
If you are attending for a driver's medical, you will need to bring any contact lenses or glasses that you wear to drive.
Paperwork submission
Please ensure that you understand timeframes for submission of any certification/reports that are required for your medical. There will be times it can be submitted on the same day, or times that it takes longer if results are required. Alternatively, it may be that you take the paperwork away yourself, depending on your requirements.
