At QMC, we're here to assist you with your Australian immigration medical assessments, which are expertly handled by our certified Australian Immigration panel doctors, Dr. Jo Cannon and Dr. Simon Davies. Your examination will be conducted using the Australian Immigration Department’s eMedical system. Please ensure you obtain your unique HAP ID number from your Australian Immigration case manager and bring your eMedical referral letter to your appointment.

Obtain HAP ID Number

Before scheduling your appointment, secure your unique HAP ID number from your Australian Immigration case manager.

Complete the Booking Form

Fill out the QMC Australian Immigration Medicals Registration form. Remember, Australian Immigration Medicals are conducted exclusively at our Isle Street practice. You can access the form here: QMC Australian Immigration Medicals Registration.

Prepayment and Confirmation

Once your booking form is submitted, our Patient Admin team will contact you to take prepayment and confirm the date of your appointment.

Attend with required documents

Please be well prepared for your Australian Medical. Refer to the checklist of documents above and arrive well in advance of your appointment.

Be prepared for your Australian Immigration Medical

If you already have your HAP ID number from the Australian Border Government Visa Page, take the following actions:

Enrolled patients or patients who have been seen at QMC before can complete the booking form here.

If you have never been seen at QMC before you will need to complete the casual form first, then complete the booking form afterwards. Our Patient Admin team will then get in touch to take prepayment and arrange the appointment date and time.

  1. Organise a date and time for your medical
  2. Take prepayment of $340

What to bring

You must bring the following to your appointment:

  1. Your HAP ID from the Australian Government (e.g. your visa application is in progress)
  2. Your original and current passport (no copies)
  3. If relevant and we do not have it already - your medical history
  4. Any glasses or contact lenses that you wear
  5. An interpreter if you do not speak English to a conversational level *please note, this should not be a family member or friend

On the day

Please arrive early enough to get yourself a parking space and be on time for your appointment. Lateness can cause issues for the two appointments that run concurrently - Please familiarise yourself with our Terms and Conditions and cancellation policy

Once you have checked in, you will see a nurse or healthcare assistant for 30 minutes, then an appointment with the Doctor for 15 minutes.

You will be given referrals for your bloods and an X-ray and can get both of these things done onsite at Awanui Labs and Pacific Radiology, after your appointment with the Doctor. The results will then be sent to the Doctor and uploaded through the eMedical system.

Urgent Care is available to assist patients with an illness or injury that does not appear to be life-threatening. No appointment needed to see a clinician at our Urgent Care Clinic Open 365 days a year for accident & acute medical services.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to bring my passport on the day?

Yes! It must be current and be the original. If you do not present to the appointment with your current, original passport, you will need to be rebooked and this will be at the patient's cost.

How much does the medical cost?

$340 - prepayment must be made in full when our Patient Admin team contact you to arrange the date and time.

What is the HAP ID?

This is an ID number that the Australian Government gives to you once you have applied for your visa.

What happens if i suddenly can't make the appointment?

Unfortunately there will be no refund if you do not give us 24 hours notice of the cancellation.

Do I see the Doctor or the Nurse?

You essentially have two appointments on the day. The first one is with our Healthcare Assistant or Nurse for 30 minutes. You will then see the Doctor for 15 minutes after that.
