Let's look after your Ears

Ear wax removal service

QMC ear wax removal service offers a simple solution to clearing blocked ears. You may have visited us in the past to have your ears syringed. We now offer a micro suction ear wax removal service, considered best practice and clinically proven more effective than ear syringing. This is available at our Remarkables Park Practice.

Find out how QMC can help your ears

Symptoms associated with blocked ears can be disorientating and painful, which is why we provide quick and easy access to one of our specialist nurses.

How does it work?

Micro suction is the safest and most comfortable method of ear wax removal and clearing blocked ears. Microsuction is the process of removing wax from your ears by using a small suction tube and probe to gently remove any excess wax in the ear.

Unlike ear syringing or irrigation, which wets the ear and can puncture the eardrum, microsuction uses suction with pinpoint accuracy to extract the wax. It is, therefore, suitable for people who have previously had ear infections or a ruptured ear drum.

How to prepare

We recommend a few simple steps before your appointment to maximise the effectiveness of your treatment. Although it is not essential before your treatment, applying 1-2 drops of olive oil or ear drops in the affected ears twice a day for up to 48 hours prior to your microsuction appointment will help make the procedure more comfortable. This increases the likelihood that the clinician will be able to remove the softened wax.

The procedure causes minimal discomfort, as the suction used to remove the ear wax blockage is very gentle.
