How we assist with insurance medicals
Insurance medicals help insurance providers gather the information they need to assess claims or applications for cover. QMC supports this process by completing medical notes, physical examinations, and insurance forms when requested and consented for by the patient. Here is a simple overview of how the process works and what patients can expect.

The pathway for insurance medicals
Here are the different ways insurance medical requests are handled at QMC, they can vary depending on what the insurer needs.

How Insurance Requests Arrive
Most insurance medical requests come to QMC directly from the insurance company. These requests include a signed medical information release from the patient, which allows our clinicians to share the required medical notes. Once completed, the invoice is sent to the insurance company.

When a Physical Exam Is Required
Sometimes the insurer will require the patient to attend an in‑person medical. When this is requested, we would ordinarily book a 15 minute appointment with a nurse and a 30 minute appointment with a doctor -although these times may vary depending on what the insurance company is requiring. These appointments allow us to complete the assessment and documentation. The insurance company would ordinarily then receive an invoice from QMC.

Insurance Form Paperwork
Patients may receive insurance documents directly from their insurer. These forms may or may not require a consultation, depending on what the insurer needs. Patients can email forms to info@qmc.co.nz. Our team will review the request and advise if an appointment is required. Charges will apply regardless of whether a consultation is required or not, tocomplete the paperwork.

The pathway for insurance medicals
A brief outline of how we manage your insurance request from start to finish.
Requests usually come directly from the insurer with a signed medical information release. No information will be released to an insurer without the patient's consent. Patients can also email forms to info@qmc.co.nz if they receive them directly.
We review what is required
Our team checks whether the insurer needs medical notes, a completed form, or a physical examination. We will let the patient know if an appointment is needed.
We complete the documentation and send the invoice to the insurer
If a physical exam is required, we book the nurse and doctor appointments. Once everything is completed, QMC submits the documentation and invoices the insurance company.
